Everyone Has a Connection

Everyone has their one 'thing'; be it an object, a place or a person. As humans we instinctively attach ourselves to something that makes us feel safe or gives us happiness. However, life doesn't always make it easy for us to keep hold of that thing. 

​

At its core, this story is something everyone has felt before in their life: That feeling of wanting your thing so bad that you would do anything, but external circumstances get in your way.  

​

In Aichaku we follow two main characters: Lucas, an American man living in rural Japan and Ken, a Half-Japanese man. Both of whom have their own separate goals, but over the course of the film we see how they come together and how their goals - and more importantly - their attachments change.

タイトル「愛着」に込めた思い

人は生まれてから外部の世界と最初に築くものはなんでしょう。

生まれたばかりの赤ちゃんに対して、無償の愛情を与え続ける存在（多くの場合は母親）と、まずはじめに「愛着関係」をつくるといいます。

その後、人が育つ過程で「物への愛着」「場所への愛着」「特別な人への愛着」と、その関係性を広げていくのです…。

 

この物語は日本の小さな田舎町に住む外国人と、外国にルーツを持つミックスの日本人の愛着の物語です。

 

それぞれが抱く夢や目標。

外国人であること、ゲイであること、ミックスルーツであること、時にその愛着さえもが彼らの障害となり立ちはだかります。

 

約２時間のフィルムの中に、大小のたくさんのメッセージを散りばめました。
